Choele Choel is a city with a population of 15,000. It is an island in the Rio Negro River. Several churches have sprung up on this island through contacts established over the years. In 1969, Floyd and Alicia Sieber, with son Juan, arrived to begin the first Mennonite missionary enterprise in southern Argentina. Five years ago the Lord moved the church to decentralize its ministries and plant groups in different neighborhoods. Now there are four congregations in different areas.
The church runs a Bible Institute with more than 100 students. With other churches in the area, it is involved in what is called the Patagonic Missionary Project (PMP). The cooperative work has already sent eight missionaries to different parts of Patagonia and to Valdivia, Chile.
Note: See the work of Wanda, Marlene and Waleska below. It is a direct result of this project.
Serving in Valdivia, Chile, doing church planting. They are looking to build a Prayer Support Team (PST). If you are interested in joining to pray for specific needs that they will update us on regularly, please contact the church office so you can be added to the mailing list.
